Feb 16, 2010
Foul weather postponed Monday night's scheduled WPIAL Section 1-A matchup between the Union High and Sewickley Academy girls until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday

It will be the season finale for the Lady Scots (0-9, 1-16). Sewickley Academy will bring a 5-4 section mark (8-7 overall) into the contest.

There will be no junior varsity game.

Meanwhile, the Wilmington High boys will look to keep their playoff hopes alive Tuesday night when they travel to Lakeview.

The Greyhounds (5-3, 9-11) need to sink the Sailors (3-4, 8-10) to set up a second-place showdown with Sharpsville (5-2, 11-8) on Friday night.

Finally, Union High’s Anthony Thomas continues to dominate the county boys basketball statistics.

Thomas, a 6-foot-1 senior guard, owns a county-high 26.8 scoring average to top the boys list. He has tallied 510 points in 19 games.

Mohawk’s Jake Grim, a 6-1 junior guard, is second in scoring at 23 points per game. Grim fired in 483 markers in 21 games.

Thomas also leads the county in 3-pointers with 64. Neshannock’s Bobby Nittinger, a 6-4 senior guard, is lurking close behind in 3-pointers with 61.
Laurel’s Eric Wallas holds the lead in free-throw percentage. Wallas, a 5-9 senior guard, is 50 of 62 for 80.6 percent. The minimum attempts to qualify for recognition is 50.
