Union girls win thriller
Union (42) Vs. Moniteau (41)
Dec 28, 2012
Hannah Booth came through in the clutch last night for the Union High girls basketball team.

Booth hit a 10-foot jumper with eight seconds lift to lift the Lady Scots to a 42-41 win over Moniteau in the Union Booster Tournament. Neither team led by more than six points at any stage of the game.

Booth finished with six points and a team-high eight rebounds.

“Hannah hit a big shot for us, there’s no question about it,” Union coach Brian Fadden said. “She played well for us. She knows her role and she does it very well.”

The Lady Warriors went the length of the floor and missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

“It’s a good thing to play for the championship of your own tournament,” Fadden said. “We set out a goal last week to go out and win our championship.

“Step one was winning (last night) and we did.”

Miranda Heaney paced the Lady Scots (4-4) with 22 points and her sister was next with 12.

“At times, Miranda was unguardable,” Fadden said. “At times she looked unstoppable when she looked to score. We need her to do that more.”
