Ellwood boys lose 7th straight
Rochester (59) Vs. Ellwood City (44)
Dec 28, 2012
Ellwood City Lincoln couldn’t get the shots to drop against Rochester in the Neshannock tournament.
The Wolverines needed them to in order to dig themselves out of a 41-33 hole entering the fourth quarter.
“We couldn’t get a big dagger shot to drop,” Ellwood City coach Anthony Ovial said. “They made some big threes to stop our runs. They made those same dagger shots on us. I thought we had a lot of opportunities. We left a lot of them on the floor. We put ourselves in position to win a few times and to take the lead, especially in the second half.”
Ellwood City (2-7) shot 2 of 20 from three-point range and missed several key baskets in the third quarter after cutting the Rams lead to four.
“If you make a few more shots, the game is totally different,” Ovial said. “We could never get the big shot to fall. That was kind of the theme for all of our guys.”
Nick Aloi tallied 10 points to lead the Wolverines, losers of seven consecutive games. Mario Greco and Matt Young were next with eight each.
