’Canes crush Quips
New Castle (90) Vs. Aliquippa (47)
Dec 28, 2012
New Castle had no trouble dismissing Aliquippa at the C.J. Betters RBA Holiday Classic at the Beaver County Dome.

“It was one of those things where they came out and pressed us,” Red Hurricane coach Ralph Blundo. “That played into our hand. We got out on the open floor and finished well.”

The game went into the mercy rule after New Castle (8-0) exploded for 62 points in the first half.

“Offensively, you’re doing everything right if you score 62 points in the first half,” Blundo said. “That early onslaught was something else.”

Malik Hooker and Shawn Anderson paced the ’Canes with 21 points apiece. Brandon Domenick got into the act with nine points, including two 3-pointers.

“These guys are doing everything right now,” Blundo said. “Malik scored 21 points. He had them on seven shots and he was perfect on his free throws.”
