Miranda Black’s 19-point effort led Shenango to a win in the Mohawk Tipoff Tournament.

Union jumped out to a 15-9 lead after the first quarter but trailed 21-17 at halftime and 37-25 after three periods.

“We came out flying,” first-year Union head coach Damian Cassano said, “but we lost our wind in the second quarter, and they caught up with our speed. I think we drained out tank a little early.
“After that, we were playing catch-up ball. The fourth quarter, we started climbing back. I think maybe we got within six, but they settled down and held on.”

Angelene Rapone added 14 more points for the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Scots got 15 points from Bridget Boyles and 13 from Ashley Sankey.

Union plays Mohawk today at 3:30 p.m.
Shenango will meet Sewickley Academy at 2 p.m.
