Warvell leads Lady Lancers
Neshannock (75) Vs. Shenango (33)
Jan 28, 2011
Ericka Warvell has had plenty of big games in her career at Neshannock, but none were as prominent as this one.
The senior scored a career-high 31 points and made what is believed to be a school-record eight 3-pointers as the Lady Lancers rolled past Shenango in a Section 2-AA matchup.
Warvell made six of her 3s in the first quarter, when Neshannock (5-2, 12-4) jumped out to a 25-8 lead. She finished the game 8 of 12 from beyond the arc and 10 of 14 from the floor.
“Some nights it just feels right, and you just feel like you can’t miss anything,” said Lady Lancers coach Luann Grybowski, who thought the eight 3s were a school record. “The game actually started off a little bit slow. It was like 10-4 early on, and then the last three minutes of the first quarter we scored like 15 points. She hit five 3s in the last few minutes of the quarter.”
Warvell, who’s tied for fourth in the county with a 15.6 points-per-game average, also grabbed eight rebounds and three steals. Chelsea Kauffman recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 assists, while Caitlin Binder netted eight points, dished out six assists and snatched four steals.
Jenna Petrucci posted a team-best 18 points for the Lady Wildcats (0-8, 2-14).
