Despite scoring a mere five points in the half, the Lady Spartans went on to outscore Erie Central 25-11 in the second half to earn a first-round victory in the Slippery Rock Tournament.

“I’m really pleased because tonight was a total team effort,” Laurel coach Jennifer McGarrah said. “The girls worked very hard and did it together. I couldn’t have been more pleased.”

Kasie Brown paced Laurel with 10 points and Lacee Cutchall followed with eight markers. Lindsay Sauers added five points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Spartans face General McClane at 2:30 p.m. today.
