The Lady Scots used defense to hold off the Lady Greyhounds at the Union Boosters Tournament.
Union (4-4) held a 41-39 lead late in the contest, while Wilmington grabbed a rebound of a missed free throw with about six seconds left on the clock. A Lady ’Hounds pass down the court was deflected and the Lady Scots claimed the win.
Union posted a 10-7 lead after the first and went up, 24-19, at halftime. Wilmington rallied for a 16-point third quarter to gain a 35-31 advantage. However, the Lady Scots marched back in the final period.
“We did what we needed to do,” Union coach Brian Fadden said.
Marissa Heaney led Union with 15 points. Savannah Partridge contributed 11 points, and Miranda Heaney added nine.
Alanna Elliott registered a game-high 21 points for Wilmington. Carly Christofferson notched seven points and 12 rebounds, while Tessa Sikora grabbed 11 rebounds.
