Neshannock (52) Vs. South Side (33)
Dec 29, 2011
The Lady Lancers rebounded from their opening-round loss at the Penn State-Beaver Christmas Tournament with the 19-point triumph.
Neshannock (2-6) posted a 16-7 lead after the first and went up, 26-19, at halftime. South Side cut the deficit to 33-27 after three quarters, but the Lady Lancers responded with a strong fourth frame to post the win.
Coach Luann Grybowski was pleased with her team’s ball movement as Neshannock picked up 13 assists on its 17 field goals.
“That’s where I want (that number). We passed the ball really well,” she said. “We played well in the first and fourth quarters. We came out at halftime and didn’t play up to par. We played a little better defensively. We held them under 40, which is our goal. But, the boxing out wasn’t there and they beat us in rebounding.”
Madison McHale led the Lady Lancers with 20 points and seven rebounds. Katie Burrelli recorded 14 points and five steals, while Marissa DeMatteo finished with nine points and six assists.
