Shenango was red hot in the first quarter, making four of its seven 3-pointers, and cruised to a 70-46 nonsection victory over Quigley Catholic.

The Wildcats scored 23 points in the first quarter en route to a 38-22 halftime lead. Jeff Williams scored 13 of his game-high 23 points in the first half for Shenango (1-4, 6-6).

“We came out and right off the bat we were shooting well,” Shenango coach Bob McQuiston said. “We did a good job running the floor, too. Our guards were getting the ball up the court and finding the open man. We were kicking it out and guys were knocking down shots.”

Jordan O’Hara added 12 points for the victors.

Anthony Veon paced the Spartans (1-1, 4-8) with 18 points.
