Shorthanded Laurel falls
New Brighton (57) Vs. Laurel (39)
Jan 14, 2011
The shorthanded Lady Spartans got within four points in the third quarter before New Brighton pulled away.

Laurel’s Becca Kerr, a senior, will miss the rest of the season with a torn meniscus suffered last week in a win over Mohawk.

“That really stinks for her,” Lady Spartans coach Jessica Shevitz said. “We don’t have a very deep bench and we’ll have to find our identity without her.

“We’re trying to regroup and hope another guard steps up.”

Laurel (2-3, 4-7) turned the ball over 28 times.

Aislinn Deinert netted 13 points for the Lady Spartans and Marisa Wallas was next with 12.

Kiyonna McFrazier recorded a game-high 15 markers for the Lady Lions (3-3, 4-8).
