A rough finish to the first half ended up costing Ellwood City in a nonsection loss to Carrick.
The Wolverines (4-4) held a lead midway through the second quarter when the Raiders (5-1) suddenly took control and went on an 8-0 run.
“We were up by nine, and they scored the last eight points,” Ellwood City coach Al Campman said. “That was the key to the game.”
Carrick kept that momentum going in the third quarter, taking a 38-34 lead. The Wolverines fought back and closed to within two but never got any closer.
Ellwood City’s Ryan Horgan scored a game-high 17 points. Brandon Lucarelli netted 15 points.
