Ellwood girls fall to Ambridge

A third-quarter collapse cost the Lady Wolverines a Section 2-AAA win against Ambridge.

Ellwood City (0-2, 5-4) played the Lady Bridgers even in the first half, 40-40. However, Ambridge (2-1, 7-2) went on a 16-4 run in the third quarter.

“We didn’t come out hard in the third and they took it to the next level, Lady Wolverines coach Bill Gottuso said.

Michelle Nocera scored 22 points in the first half on her way to a game-high 26. She also collected 13 rebounds.

Michelle’s sister, Nicole, tallied eight markers, seven assists and seven steals.
