Wilmington rallies past West Shamokin
Wilmington (43) Vs. West Shamokin (33)
Dec 11, 2009
The Lady ’Hounds shut down West Shamokin’s top scorer in the second half to help erase a seven-point halftime deficit and give Wilmington a 43-33 win.
Sabrina Rearick scored 11 points to give West Shamokin an 18-11 lead after two quarters in the Grove City Tipoff Tournament, but she managed only two more points the rest of the way.
“The girls played really well together,” said assistant coach Megan Wagner. “We shut down their leading scorer in the second half.
“We played man the first half, then came out the second half in a 2-3 zone, and she just couldn’t score. Every time she turned around, we had someone right there.”
Wagner ran the team for head coach Brian Turk, who is in Florida on work-related business.
Stephanie Kish led Wilmington with 14 points, followed by Haley Marett with 12 and Ashley Gardner with 11.
The Lady ’Hounds advanced to today’s 7:30 p.m. championship game.
