A slow first quarter doomed the visiting Lady Wolverines in the Section 2-AAA loss to host Hopewell.

The Lady Vikings (2-3, 3-7) opened the game on a 15-8 run and took a 29-18 lead into the half.

Ellwood City (1-4, 4-7) battled back and outscored Hopewell 27-20 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory.

Bailey McKinney paced the Lady Wolverines with 16 points, while Emily Brown totaled 12 points and Allie McKelvey tallied 10 points and 13
boards.

Amber Falletta and Noelle Henry each had 11 points for Hopewell and Bailey Salvati contributed 10.
