The Lady Wildcats snapped a four-game losing streak by picking up the Section 2-AA road win.

Shenango (3-3, 7-7) moved into fourth place in the section with the win and have a chance to put itself in better position for a playoff run.

“This puts us back on track,” Shenango coach Brian Turk said. “We have a strong week next week with Beaver Falls and Riverside. We’re battling them for that last playoff spot out of the section as the standings sit now.

“It was nice to get a win heading into next week. Confidence is everything, especially down the stretch after you’ve already seen everyone once already. You know what to expect facing them a second time.”

The Lady ’Cats jumped out to 15-8 and 31-13 leads in the first half and never looked back.

Samantha Seaburn posted a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double to pace Shenango, while Angelina Sibeto posted a game-high 19 points and six assists. Ashleigh Presnar totaled eight points, seven rebounds and five steals. Carolyn Peterson tacked on 10 tallies.

“We had to make sure we got off to a good start,” Turk said. “The last few games, we’ve gotten off to a slow start. Some of that had to do with the teams we were playing. Laurel, Mohawk and Neshannock are good teams. So, it was important that we got off to a good start (last night) and not play to (New Brighton’s) level.”
