Neshannock allowed just six points in the first half and received season highs in scoring from two players in a victory over Cornell in the first round of the Neshannock Christmas Tournament.

Marianne Piatek, Chelsea Kauffman and Dominique Sheldone combined for 46 points for the Lady Lancers (6-0). Piatek scored a season-high 17, while Sheldone struck for a career-best 14. Kauffman provided 15 points, six steals and five assists.

The scoring was nice, but Neshannock coach Luann Grybowski was more excited about the defense.

“We did a good job causing some havoc and a lot of turnovers,” she said.

Piatek led the way in the first half, with 11 of her 17. She also snatched five steals and grabbed six rebounds. Caitlin Binder added eight points, eight rebounds, five steals and 10 assists.
