Michelle Nocera notched 18 points to lead Ellwood City to a championship win over South Side Beaver in the South Side Beaver Tipoff Tournament.
The Lady Wolverines are 2-0 for the first time in more than eight years.
Nicole Nocera, Michelle’s sister, was next with 15 points and five steals, while Asia Borders contributed 11 markers and 11 rebounds.
Allison Marshall handed out eight assists for the winners.
The Lady Wolverines raced to a 10-2 lead and the Lady Rams never threatened.
“This was a good way to start the season,” Ellwood City coach Bill Gottuso said. “We’re very happy with the way we started.”
Brittany Dhayer led South Side Beaver (1-1) with 15 points.
Michelle Nocera and Borders were named to the all-tournament team, while Nicole Nocera earned the MVP award.
“Nicole was doing what I expect her to do,” Gottuso said. “She’s energetic; always tipping balls and saving balls.”
