Center girls edge Ellwood
Center (47) Vs. Ellwood City (44)
Jan 15, 2010
Annie Bozich sank the game-winning field goal with 19 seconds left to give Center a Section 2-AAA win over Ellwood City Lincoln. It’s the 97th straight section loss for the Lady Wolverines.

Ellwood City missed a shot on the other end and Jocelyn Warfield pulled down the rebound for the Lady Trojans. Warfield was fouled with two seconds left and she buried both attempts for the final margin.

Ellwood City (0-2, 5-5) trailed 13-4 after one quarter before taking a 42-40 lead late in the game.

“We dug too deep of a hole for ourselves,” Lady Wolverines coach Bill Gottuso said. “I’m very proud of the way they played; we’re two evenly matched teams but we just fell too far behind.”

Michelle Nocera netted a game-high 21 points and a team-best 12 rebounds. Michelle’s sister Nicole registered eight assists, seven steals and seven rebounds to go along with her two markers.

Elle George paced Center (1-2, 3-7) with 13 points and Bozich contributed 12.
