New Castle put a stop to its two-game losing streak with an easy win over North Hills in a WPIAL Section 3-AAAA encounter.

The Lady ’Canes (6-1 section, 10-3 overall) got the win but it wasn’t without a struggle. They shot just 17 of 52 from the field and committed 22 turnovers.

“I don’t know where the answers are but we certainly have to find them soon,” New Castle coach Luann Grybowski said. “We can’t continue to turn it over 22 times in a game and still be successful.”

Logan Hartman netted a game-high 17 points, 12 rebounds and three steals for the Lady ’Canes, while Abby Allen added 16 markers, five assists and four steals.

Shelby Rodgers chipped in with 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the winners.

The Lady Indians (2-14, 0-7) shot just 8 of 37 from the floor and turned the ball over 26 times.
