Ambridge beats Ellwood City
Ambridge (61) Vs. Ellwood City (42)
Jan 10, 2008
Ellwood City Lincoln owned the lead until the last two minutes in the third quarter.

The Lady Wolverines, though, couldn’t hang on and suffered a loss in Section 2-AAA play.

“We looked up and saw we were down and we fell asleep,” Ellwood City coach Bill Gottuso said. “It looks like we got beat up but we hung with them for awhile.”

Michelle Nocera guided the Lady Wolverines (0-7, 3-9) with 15 points. Ashley Washington followed with 11 points and sister, Alyse Washington, added 11.

The setback extended Ellwood City’s consecutive section losing streak to 82 games.

Kiara Brown led all scorers with 31 points for the Lady Bridgers (5-2, 7-6).

Ambridge was 0 for 1 from the free throw line.

“We did a good job keeping them from the line and from getting inside,” Gottuso said. “They just did a great job hitting jumpers from the outside.”
