Hopewell (66) Vs. Ellwood City (40)
Jan 23, 2013
The Vikings knocked down 10 3-pointers in a Section 2-AAA home win over Ellwood City Lincoln.
Hopewell (2-6, 3-12) pushed a 16-11 lead to 41-16 at the break.
“In the second quarter, a lot of that had to do with their two shoooters getting going,” first-year Wolverines coach Anthony Ovial said. “(Nathan) Bell had three 3s and (Jacob) Miller hit both of his.
“We didn’t stick with their shooters and we paid the price for it. That one big quarter did us in.”
Ellwood City (0-8, 3-14) made just one basket from behind the arc.
“A lot of our games have come down to their ability to hit shots,” Ovial said. “We have to do a better job of limiting their open looks.”
Nick Aloi netted a game-high 23 points for the Wolverines. He was 13 of 15 from the foul line.
“Nick did a nice job of getting in the paint and getting to the line,” Ovial said. “He did a good job of breaking down the defense and getting into the interior of the defense.”
Bell led the Vikings with 21 points, all coming on 3-pointers.
