Asia Borders’ double-double lifted Ellwood City over visiting Kittaning in nonsection play.
“Asia played strong and was dominant underneath,” Lady Wolverines coach Jolene Servick said. “The girls played hard as a team and put together four strong quarters.”
Borders finished with a team-high 13 points and 12 rebounds, nine of which were defensive. Karington Ketterer was next with 12 points.
Ellwood City (8-10) came in on a three-game losing skid, averaging just 27 points in those losses.
“We needed this win to gain some confidence,” Servick said. “The girls handled their man-to-man pressure and were patient in our offense. We needed this game heading into our section game against West Allegheny on Thursday.”
Bailey McKinney was next for the winners with a career-high 10 points.
“She played an all-around game and finally broke out,” Servick said. “She had the game that we knew was inside her.”
