Fatigue played a role in the Lady Lancers’ Section 2-AA loss at Riverside.

Neshannock played its third game in four nights and trailed the Lady Panthers 19-6 after the first quarter.

“My kids seemed like they didn’t have their legs,” Lady Lancers coach Luann Grybowski said. “We went down big early. They outrebounded and outhustled us.”

Riverside made 17 of 24 field goals in the first half. Nicole Mansfield tallied 10 of her 18 points for the Lady Panthers in the first quarter.

“They didn’t miss,” Grybowski said. “I think it was a combination of the fatigue and their shooting that did us in. It was a rough first half.”

The Lady Panthers (2-0, 2-4) took a 34-12 lead into halftime. Neshannock (1-2, 3-5) matched Riverside in the second half with 30 points.

“We played them even in the second half,” Grybowski said. “We were getting killed on the boards in the first half. Turnovers weren’t much better.”

Madison McHale had a team-high 14 points for the Lady Lancers. She has led the team in points the past four contests.
