Aliquippa edges Union
Aliquippa (56) Vs. Union (50)
Jan 24, 2012
Foul shooting proved costly for Union in a Section 1-A road loss to Aliquippa.

The Lady Scots (4-4, 10-7) were just 13 of 29 at the foul line in the setback.

“It’s very disappointing,” Union coach Brian Fadden said of the loss. “We had several opportunities to make a move on them.

“We couldn’t make a shot when we needed to. The ball just wasn’t bouncing our way.”

The Lady Scots trailed just 21-20 after the first quarter and 37-29 at the break. But they were just 2 of 12 at the foul line in the second quarter.

“We shot it really well in the first quarter,” Fadden said. “We got a lot of open looks.

“In the second quarter, we just lost a little bit of confidence.”

Savannah Partridge posted a team-high 24 points for Union and Miranda Heaney was next with 11.

Jaclyn Watkins led all scorers with 31 points for the Lady Quips (5-3, 6-7).
