Union edges Shenango in Mohawk event

Miranda Heaney scored 17 points in the Union girls basketball team’s 40-39 win over Shenango in the Mohawk Tipoff Tournament.
Savannah Partridge added 15 markers for the Lady Scots.
Jenna Petrucci led Shenango with 18 points, while Amanda Herb added nine points and nine rebounds and Brianna Keyser eight rebounds.
The Lady Wildcats had one more field goal (16-15) than the winners, but made just 3 of 12 free throws to Union’s 7 of 14.
Shenango plays Wilmington at 1 p.m. in the consolation game, while Mohawk goes up against Union in the championship game at 2:30 p.m.
