Riverside boys edge Union
Riverside (47) Vs. Union (45)
Jan 28, 2010
The Scotties lost another close battle — this time to Riverside in a nonsection matchup.

Union, which fell to Neshannock 67-65 last week, was defeated by a last-second layup from Riverside’s Gig Jewell, who scored 10 points.

“We’re going to be fine,” Scotties coach Dave Smialowski said. “We’ve just got to work on some things. Every season has its peaks and valleys. We’re in a little bit of a valley right now.”

Anthony Thomas notched 18 points, six rebounds and five assists for Union (11-3).

Mason Marion, who assisted on the game-winning basket, finished with 23 points for Riverside (6-12).
