The Wildcats earned their first two-game winning streak of the season with a nonsection decision over Wilmington.
“I think the guys are really coming together,” said Shenango coach Bob McQuiston, whose team defeated Sharpsville last week. “They keep working hard every game and keep getting better every game.”
The Wildcats (4-13), who shot 25 of 49 from the field, jumped on top of the visiting Greyhounds 19-6 in the first quarter. Brett Chieze and Jeff Williams each drained 17 points for Shenango, while Joe Colavecchia added 10 points and had seven rebounds.
Colavecchia has come on strong as of late. The senior has registered five double-digit performances in his last six games.
“Joey is really stepping up,” McQuiston said. “He knows this is it for him. He’s been upbeat at practice.”
Jake DeMedal and Anthony Derrick scored 11 points apiece for Wilmington (6-9).
