Union (88) Vs. Summit Academy (83)
Jan 07, 2010
Defense and foul shots lifted the Scotties over Summit Academy in a nonsection overtime thriller.
A turnover with 10 seconds remaining in regulation nearly cost Union (9-0) the victory. But consecutive blocks by brothers Anthony and Devonta Thomas sent the game into an extra period.
From there, the Scotties dominated, making 7 of 10 from the foul line.
“They showed some heart tonight,” Union coach Dave Smialowski said. “They really got after it in the fourth quarter. In the overtime, they prevailed.”
Summit Academy (3-7) led by 10 with four minutes left in the fourth quarter, but five 3-pointers by Anthony Thomas, Damian Trott and Andre Jones fueled the Scotties’ comeback.
Anthony Thomas fell one point short of his career high total with 46 points last night on 15 of 24 shooting. He also collected eight 3-pointers, six rebounds and four assists.
Devonta Thomas finished with 17 markers, followed by Trott with 10.
