Mohawk gets past Laurel
Mohawk (52) Vs. Laurel (47)
Dec 23, 2008
Matt Lorello turned in another fine effort to lift the undefeated Warriors to a WPIAL Section 2-AA victory over Laurel.

Lorello scored a game-high 29 points and added 10 rebounds as the Warriors improved to 3-0 in the section and 7-0 overall.

The Spartans, however, gave them a game.

Laurel took a 23-17 lead at the half before Mohawk outscored the Spartans 18-10 in the third quarter.

“We came out flat and unemotional,” Mohawk coach Kevin Wrona said. “We made some adjustments and played inspired basketball in the second half.

“Matt Minteer played his heart out defensively for us. He gave us a lot of intensity.”

Michael Henry led Mohawk in rebounds with 11 to go with his seven points. Dan Mioni chipped in with 10 assists.

Tyler Forbes paced Laurel (1-3, 3-4) with 15 points and Jake Dando followed with 11.
