Dec 19, 2015
The Greyhounds raced to a 29-13 lead after one quarter and cruised to an 89-55 nonregion home win over the Wildcats.
Wilmington sailed to a 50-26 buffer at the break.
"They played a triangle-and-two defense on Spencer DeMedal and Jimmy Powers. We've been game planning for teams to do that," Greyhounds coach Mike Jeckavitch said. "Jared Berlin stepped up for us in the first quarter and we got them out of that triangle and two.
"I thought the entire team clicked and we played as a team."
"I thought Wilmington came out more intense than we were, especially in the first quarter," Shenango coach Bob McQuiston said. "We got down big and we couldn't recover."
Jimmy Powers produced a game-high 22 points for Wilmington (3-3), including six trifectas. Jared Berlin was next for the winners with 16 markers and Spencer DeMedal delivered 13. Jacob Harvey tallied 10 points.
Powers provided eight points in the second quarter and eight more in the third, while Berlin added 14 markers in the first stanza.
DeMedal delivered seven assists as well for the winners.
Maxwell Reamer registered 15 points for the Wildcats (0-7) and Ryan Conner collected 12. Matt McMillen added 11 points.
