The Lady ’Hounds dropped another close game, this time to District 10, Region 2-AA opponent Mercer.

Wilmington (2-7, 6-13) had a chance at a final shot, but a deflected pass ran the final seconds off of the clock.

“In order for us to come away with these wins, we have to put the ball in the hoop,” Wilmington coach Matt Fabian said. “We missed some easy layups tonight. Turnovers are coming down, we’re starting to learn to take care of the ball.”

The Lady ’Hounds struggled from the free-throw line, connecting on only four of their 10 attempts.

“4 of 10 isn’t going to cut it,” Fabian said. “We have to be around 70, 80 percent. Good teams make their free throws and we didn’t.”
