Jan 10, 2015
Union High got off to a bit of a sloppy start, but settled down for a solid 75-47 Section 1-A victory over Western Beaver last night.
Cornell Charles led Union (4-2, 6-7) with 20 points and five steals, while Tre’von Charles added 11 points and Anthony Rush chipped in with 10. Dominick Dudo had nine rebounds.
“We were 0 for 18 in the first half from 3-point range, but in the second half, we started hitting our shots,” Scotties coach Mark Stanley said. “We got into a groove in the first two minutes of the third quarter and things started coming together.
“Cornell played very well and it was fun getting everybody in the game in a win. Lucas Greenawalt, who is a senior, got the first 3-pointer of his career and that was very nice to see.”
“Western Beaver had a tough night,” he added. “They were missing two starters and were very short-handed. We didn’t even play the JV game.”
Corey Chaffee led Western Beaver (1-4, 3-8) with 16 points and Cody Acon added 15.
