Mohawk erupts early, defeats Rochester
Mohawk (46) Vs. Rochester (22)
Jan 03, 2015
Mohawk erupted in the first half and coasted to a 46-22 nonsection win over visiting Rochester.

Mohawk (8-2) led 12-2 after one quarter and 26-10 at the break.

“We spent a great deal of time during the holiday break really focusing on our defense,” Lady Warriors coach Mike O’Lare said. “We’re really starting to improve on that end of the floor.

“A lot of it is coming off of our defensive pressure. We’re still a work in progress, but we’re getting better defensively overal.”

Aliya Gage and Erin Giancola shared game-high honors in points with 12 each for Mohawk. Gage garnered a game-best seven rebounds and Giancola was next with rive.

“Aliya continues to improve,” O’Lare said. “Erin has been pretty steady since the first game of the year.”
