The Greyhounds outscored the host Sailors 17-4 in the fourth frame to pull away for a District 10, Region 2-AA victory.
Wilmington (2-0 region, 6-3 overall) led 39-37 after three quarters.
“I thought our guard play really started to wear their defense down,” Greyhounds coach Mike Jeckavitch said. “They’re a real patient team. They tried to limit our possessions.
“We went on the attack a little more in the fourth quarter. We rebounded pretty well in spurts, but they really took it personal to do better in the fourth quarter. It was a team effort in the fourth quarter.”
Wilmington was 7 of 8 at the foul line in the fourth frame and 10 of 15 for the game.
Jordan Smith supplied a game-high 19 points to go with six rebounds for the Greyhounds. He scored 10 of his points in the second quarter.
“I thought Jordan Smith really stepped up for us and really took it to Lakeview,” Jeckavitch said. “He got himself involved early and often.”
