Jan 06, 2014
The Spartans were 30 of 57 from the field in an easy nonsection home win over Bishop Canevin.
Laurel (5-5) built a 24-11 lead after one quarter and 51-23 at the break.
“I’m pleased with how we started,” said second-year Spartans coach Ken Locke. “We had a big (WPIAL Section 2-AA) win Friday at Mohawk and winning breeds confidence.
“We definitely came out ready to go.”
Laurel’s Jacob Wilson netted a game-high 16 points, all of which coming in the first half.
“Jacob is steady,” Locke said. “He always plays hard. He’s going to give you 100 percent all the time. That’s what we love about him.”
Scott Siddall was next with 15 markers and five rebounds for the winners, while Josh Dando tossed in 13 points. Mason Mraz chipped in with 12 tallies.
Dom Palmosino recorded 10 points to pace the Crusaders (3-7).
