Aggressive second-half played, meanwhile, boosted Shenango over Wilmington, 46-39
“We have to have those second and third chances,” Lady Wildcats coach Brian Turk said. “The team played very aggressively, especially coming off of the bench.”
Freshman Samantha Seaburn sparked Shenanago with 16 points and senior Amanda Herb netted 12 points and collected 10 rebounds.
“She’s going to help us along,” Turk said of Seaburn. “We have a good, talented freshman group.
“Even though Sam did some of the scoring, the freshmen did good things as well.”
Senior Jenna Petrucci and freshman Angelina Sibeto provided the hustle for the Lady Wildcats. Petrucci collected seven rebounds and five steals, while Sibeto had nine rebounds and three steals.
“You’re just trying to find your place and see what works,” Wilmington coach Brandy Sanford said. “We need a lot of work defensively on the rebounds.”
Wilmington struggled at the foul line, hitting four of 10 opportunities.
“Foul shots killed us. That puts us back in the ball game.”
Junior Tessa Sikora had 22 of the team’s 44 rebounds.
Hannah Drake lead the Lady Greyhounds with 12 points. Carly Christofferson and Sikora each bucketed 11.
