New Brighton used a strong first half to put an end to the Lady Warriors’ five-game winning streak and take a key Section 2-AA matchup.
The Lady Lions outscored the hosts, 23-10, in the first two quarters. Kaitlyn Hopkins scored 10 of her game-high 16 in the second quarter for New Brighton (6-5, 10-7), which moved a half-game behind third-place Mohawk (6-4, 15-5) in the standings.
Taylor Yarletts and Shelby Brown paced the Lady Warriors with 11 points each.
Mohawk has two section games remaining.
