Miranda Heaney delivered for Union in a nonsection road win over Portersville Christian.
Heaney netted 21 points with eight assists for the Lady Scots (8-6), including 10 points in the first quarter as they built an 18-12 lead.
“Miranda played very well,” Union coach Brian Fadden said. “She looked to shoot early on and was making her shots.
“She was passing more in the second half and getting her teammates involved. I thought she had a great overall game.”
Union has won three of its last four games. The Lady Scots, who led 34-20 at the half, built the lead against Portersville Christian to more than 20 points.
“We’re very encouraged,” Fadden said of his team’s play. “I thought we did what we expected to do (against Portersville Christian); we played a good overall game.”
Katelyn Kosciuszko contributed 15 points for Union and Allison Bertolino pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
“Katelyn played a very good game,” Fadden said. “I’m glad to see good things are happening for her.”
Mary McDonald led all scorers with 34 points for Portersville Christian, 22 came in the second half. She was 10 of 13 from the foul line as well.
“McDonald is a good player,” Fadden said. “We really made her work.
“There were a lot of contested shots and she shot her free throws well.”
