Marisa Wallas propelled Laurel to a Section 2-AA win over New Brighton.

Wallas netted seven of her 11 points in the fourth quarter to go along with two critical steals for the Lady Spartans.

“Marisa played really well for us off the bench; she gave us a big spark,” Laurel coach Jenn McGarrah said. “This win keeps us in the playoff hunt.”

The Lady Spartans (4-5, 7-8) are in fifth place in the standings. The top four advance to the WPIAL playoffs.

The Lady Lions (1-7, 7-11) trailed 38-31 after three periods before rallying to knot the contest early in the fourth frame. The Lady Spartans took the lead for good around the six-minute mark.

Becca Kerr recorded 12 points and seven steals for Laurel, while Nicolette McCormick contributed 11 markers.

Lauren Pier netted 11 points for New Brighton.
