The Wildcats had three players in double digits but could not overcome Mars in nonsection action.
Brett Chieze and Eric Moscipan both had 14 points for Shenango, followed by Jeff Williams with 11.
Shenango (0-3) even outrebounded Mars, 34-20.
“I thought we did a good job hustling tonight,” Wildcats coach Bob McQuiston. “We got off to a rough start this weekend. They came out and played hard. We just made some rookie mistakes that we couldn’t make against a good team.”
Ian Hindley led the Planets (1-0) with 20 points.
