New Brighton leaves Wolverines frozen

The Ellwood City Lincoln High boys basketball team went ice-cold in the second half last night.

And the Wolverines never regrouped en route to a 54-25 nonleague loss to New Brighton.

Ellwood City trailed 10-7 after one quarter and were still within striking distance, 26-18 at the half, but could not buy a bucket after intermission.

The Wolverines were outscored 12-2 in the third quarter and did not hit their first field goal in the second half until Tyler Lucarelli came off the bench to bucket a two-pointer with 45 seconds remaining.

Ellwood is now 4-11 overall.

New Brighton, which was led by B.J. Pearson with 16 points, improved its slate to 11-3.
