Jan 16, 2009
The Ellwood City Lincoln High boys basketball team went ice-cold in the second half last night.
And the Wolverines never regrouped en route to a 54-25 nonleague loss to New Brighton.
Ellwood City trailed 10-7 after one quarter and were still within striking distance, 26-18 at the half, but could not buy a bucket after intermission.
The Wolverines were outscored 12-2 in the third quarter and did not hit their first field goal in the second half until Tyler Lucarelli came off the bench to bucket a two-pointer with 45 seconds remaining.
Ellwood is now 4-11 overall.
New Brighton, which was led by B.J. Pearson with 16 points, improved its slate to 11-3.
