The drought is over for the Mohawk High girls basketball team.
The Lady Warriors clinched their first WPIAL playoff berth since 2001 with a 51-43 win at New Brighton last night in a Section 2-AA contest.
“It’s a huge step for our program,” Mohawk coach Mike O’Lare said. “We are all excited and it’s a great environment for these kids to be in.”
Kelly Eichenlaub netted a game-high 14 points for the Lady Warriors (5-6 section, 10-12 overall) and Alyssa Natale added 13.
“Tonight was an example of a complete team effort,” O’Lare said. “The kids continued to battle and never quit.”
Chelsea Barnes had 12 markers for the Lady Lions (3-8, 6-13).
