The Union High boys basketball team is holding tight onto its second-place standing in WPIAL Section 1-1A.

The Scotties jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 72-40 rout of visiting Quigley Catholic on Tuesday night.

Union is 6-1 in the section, 13-3 overall and trails first-place Vincentian Academy (7-0, 12-2) by one game. The teams meet at Vincentian on Feb. 3.

Quigley slipped to 2-6, 4-12.

Nate Meeks led the Scotties with 12 points and K'Von Huddleston added 11 markers and eight rebounds. Dom Dudo chipped in with nine points and 10 rebounds. Tre Charles had seven assists.
