Slow start hinders Laurel girls

The visiting Laurel Lady Spartans started off slow and couldn’t recover against Section 1-AA opponent Beaver Falls.

The Lady Tigers (5-7, 8-11) jumped out to a 34-6 lead after the first eight minutes of action, en route to a 73-40 victory.

“It was a little bit of a slow start,” Laurel coach Jessica Shevitz said. “The girls played hard, you can’t fault them for that.”

Ellen Shaffer paced Laurel (2-10, 7-14) with 14 points and 10 boards.
