A slow third quarter doomed the Neshannock Lady Lancers in a 56-38 loss to Greesburg Central Catholic last night in the New Castle Tipoff Classic lidlifter.

Neshannock trailed, 16-9, after the first quarter, but came within 27-22 at halftime. However, the Lady Centurions opened the third frame with a 10-0 run. Cassidy Burrelli’s bucket halted that spree, but Greensburg Central Catholic outscored Neshannock, 12-1, to post a 49-25 advantage at the buzzer.

The Lady Lancers responded with a charge in the final frame. They trimmed the deficit to 51-38 with 3:06 to play. Madison McHale scored nine points in that 13-2 run. But, they went cold in the final minutes and the Lady Centurions held on for the win.

McHale led all players with 20 points. Burrelli finished with 10 for Neshannock.
