Rochester (39) Vs. Laurel (35)
Jan 04, 2008
Laurel led by one point with 1:30 to play but couldn’t hold on against Rochester in a Section 2-AA loss.

Jason Adamson’s jumper with a little over a minute to play gave the Rams (2-4 section, 4-8 overall) the lead for good.

The Spartans (0-5, 1-12) weren’t able to come through in the clutch after that basket by Adamson, missing foul shots, field goals and throwing errant passes.

“It just slipped out of our hands,” Laurel coach Mike Tinstman said. “We had an opportunity to win but we didn’t get it done.

“We just made some crucial mistakes at the end of the ballgame; it’s very frustrating but they gave a good effort. We just have to learn how to win.”

Eric Wallas led Laurel with nine points and Jake Dando was next with eight and seven rebounds. Shane Caldararo pulled down a team-high nine rebounds for the Spartans.

Terry Gettings paced all scorers with 12 points for Rochester.
