Ellwood City (43) Vs. Western Beaver (49)
Dec 31, 2007
Western Beaver’s Sean Stiffey hit two free throws with 14 seconds remaining to seal the win over Ellwood City in the Penn State-Beaver Tournament.
Stiffey paced the Golden Beavers with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Ross McDevitt netted 14 points for the Wolverines, who were 14 of 54 from the field.
“Once again, we continued to not make shots; it’s a trend for us,” Ellwood City coach Jason Bumblis said.
The Wolverines were also dealt another setback when they lost second-leading scorer Anthony Sainato for the rest of the season. Sainato sustained multiple fractures of his orbital bone in a collision for a loose ball.
Sainato is averaging 11.8 points a game and has a team-best 26 3-pointers.
