Mohawk (44) Vs. Union (41)
Dec 17, 2011
The Union Scotties misfired on a 3-pointer at the buzzer and Mohawk held on for a 44-41 nonsection win last night.
Jonathan Grim buried two foul shots with nine seconds to go to give the Warriors (2-2) a three-point lead. It was the only points of the game for Grim.
“Those foul shots were big for Jonathan’s confidence,” first-year Mohawk coach Rob Fadden said. “It was a nice win for us. I give our kids credit, they didn’t quit.”
Union (2-3) led 19-12 after the first frame, but managed just 22 points the rest of the way.
“We played predominantly a zone in the first quarter,” Fadden said. “We weren’t locating (Joe) Salmen.
“We switched to a man and the kids did a nice job of locating shooters in the second half.”
Tim Glass paced Mohawk with 14 points and Mitchell Grim was next with 12. Lucas Grim tossed in 10.
Benjamin Young recorded 11 points for the Scotties.
