Bench comes through for Mohawk in win over Laurel
Mohawk (45) Vs. Laurel (37)
Mike O’Lare was thankful for his bench.

With three starters in foul trouble, the Mohawk High girls basketball coach relied on his depth in the Lady Warriors’ 45-37 WPIAL Section 2-AA victory over Laurel.

“We had a ton of fouls in the first half and we had some kids step up for us,” O’Lare said.

Kelly Eichenlaub paced Mohawk (6-3 section, 12-6 overall) with 12 points, all on 3-pointers. Chelsea Brown followed with 10 points.

“Janiel Henley, Jess Boyer and Meghan Laughner came off the bench and gave me some quality minutes,” O’Lare said. “We were down 13-11 after the first quarter and we went on a 15-7 run in the second quarter and kept the lead through the second half.”

Becca Kerr led Laurel (1-9, 4-12) with 15 points.
